I was in Chicago in February 2010 and was relaxing in a bar and talking about my work. Â The people I was talking to were avid snowboarders, but one of them had lost their confidence due to an injury they sustained whilst snowboarding a couple of years earlier.
As a result he was unable to push himself to tackle the harder slopes with the same enthusiasm as his friends – and as he did before his accident.
So I arranged to drive up to Wisconsin to meet with them and work with them at Cascade Mountain in Wisconsin. Â That was a great adventure in itself!
I arrived at Wisconsin and spent the next week working on visualisation techniques and positive reframing to improve his confidence and technique. Â He had identified himself as an injured snowboarder, and it was my job to re-affirm his previous identity as an Alpine snowboarder.

It was a cold week, but it was great fun, and I was able to give a snowboarder his confidence back.
